To get the most from whichever cartridge you use and to reduce the amount of ink used for each print job, check the settings within print mode (usually found in the printer dialogue box under properties or options) and change to draft mode, greyscale or black only. The quality will be slightly lower but if the prints are for in-house use only and don't need to be of particularly high quality, save money instead.
